Seeing aliens

So many UFO's so little time....

I have a purple sweater languishing in a shoebox with only the front knitted. I checked the gauge before I started but somehow it's knitted up waaaaay smaller than I intended, like it could fit a skinny five year old or Kate Moss, but not the "haven't been to the gym in a year" me. There are two skeins of wool already invested in this project with five more waiting in the wings, but I can't motivate myself to frog or continue. Oh well, the longer I leave it next to my bed, the sooner it will get kicked under it and forgotten.

And then there's the NW-line shawl, or the tree shawl, or the random fugly red thing I can't stop crocheting every time I get a seat on the subway. This is also at the point of being a two-baller (ha) AND at being totally pointless. Should I continue? Should I pretend I meant it to be a table runner all along, add a fringe, some beads and a black backing cloth? Or should I leave it in the bottom of my purse and continue torturing myself with it for several more months? Decisions, decisions....

There's a one armed tailess sock monkey on my bedside table, a present for a co-worker who's leaving next week, and another armless monkey under my desk gnawing at my toes in a desperate attempt at getting my attention. I just kicked him.... he's all quiet now.

But there is some hope on the horizon, I managed to turn one skein of Lion Brand Jiffy (from a random Ebay grab bag of yarns) into a scarflet using plain ole single crochet and a five petal flower,

And I turned this bundle of joy (times 2):

... into something rather stunning even if I do say so myself. I would show a picture except my camera batteries crapped out just at the inopportune moment. That's thing thing with rechargeable batteries, you actually have to remember to give 'em some juice every now and then.

The New Year postcards are starting to arrive thick and fast, I'll post all ten when I get them. Thanks to everyone who signed up for this, the cards are so quirky and fun :)

The little scarflet looks like just the thing for a windy winter day in NYC! Very nice!
