Fabrique au Canada!

Here are my completed socks posing in the Ottawa Jail Hostel. Yes, jail. I spent my nights in Canada's capital sleeping in a prison cell, how cool is that? However, it came as quite a shock to my fellow travelers that I was knitting! In a hostel! But the knitting needles proved to be a conduit to several interesting conversations and a couple of brief but pleasant friendships so all the funny looks were worth it.

I didn't get a chance to find any yarn stores in Montreal as they were all too far away from the Hostel and I was busy climbing mountains and other things completely foreign to my nature. I did manage to check out two stores in Ottawa and was slightly disappointed by the selection available. I was expecting luscious Canadian yarns at nice prices but all I found was the standard array of names at not so nice prices (damn exchange rate, grrr). However I did have a nice chat with a lady at one of the stores so it was all well in the end. And yes, those completed socks up there are resting on two new balls of sock yarn, because if there's anything I need right now, it's totally more sock yarn. Hahahaha!

  1. Your socks are fantastic! And what a cool memory, staying in jail, by your own choosing!
