Noodling around in exel

While I'm trawling through spreadsheet after spreadsheet for work, I thought I'd have a little play for something more fabric-y. I've been toying with the idea of making a quilt for a lab-mate who is getting married this Fall, but since I also have to, you know, graduate sometime this year, it has to be pretty simple. I was thinking of a stacked-coins type quilt, but with an alternate arrangement to maximise the dimensions.

Now to work out the required dimensions for all the backing rectangles!
