I like making traditions for myself and this is the beginning of a new one. Last year for my friend's baby's 1st birthday I made him a sweater and a soft toy (Child's Placket Neck Sweater and Sheldon), so this year I'm also making him a sweater and soft toy. The sweater is the striped cardi from Lion Brand in cotton ease pistachio, popsicle and candy blue. Yes, I have more cotton ease in pistachio and popsicle than I know what to do with and will probably still be knitting sweaters for Dash in these yarns when he's getting ready to leave for college. But the combination is so cute together! I'm carrying the pistachio up the side to minimize the number of ends I have to weave in, but the ends don't really bother me because the stripes are so addictive!And for the soft toy? I hoping to make Pasha, since a little bird told me that he loved the penguins at the zoo. Baby stuff is fun :)

ReplyDeleteI'm with you on carrying the yarn up the sides. The mere thought of weaving in all those ends on my own striped baby sweater was enough to give me the vapors. :)
