Thwarted

So I thought I'd have a FO to show you. The "green" thing from a couple of posts ago is all knitted up and blocked just waiting for it's finishing touches (seams, ribbon etc). But no. The gremlins got in the way.

You see somewhere between my desk and the ribbon shop my wallet disappeared into the ether. Vapourised. I can't think that someone would have had the opportunity to steal it (two layers of Velcro to rip open to get inside my laptop bag, plus a lab full of people) but also I didn't have the opportunity to loose it. It's not at work, at home, in the bag, in the store. It's gone. So my credit cards are canceled, my UK drivers license will have to be replaced somehow (probably when I go home in two weeks), and I'll need new health and dental insurance cards. And the two yards of ribbon that were going to cost me all of 80 cents? Still on the counter in the store :(

Needless to say, I wasn't in the best of moods at the Sit n' Knit event last night. Even the bluegrass couldn't really lift my spirits. And the knitting? There's no love there either. I grabbed one of my languishing UFOs since it was my only portable project and, well, fuck me if I could figure out where I was up to, how I'd managed to mangle the row counts so badly in the cable pattern, or how I'd gotten that loosey-goosey gauge. But hottdamnit, the Snickets are out of hibernation and they will be finished.

Awww, I thought I had lost my wallet a few months back and I couldn't think of how I've lost it or how could anyone steal it. The last place I could have thought was leaving it on a table after paying for a meal! Luckily the restaurant still had my wallet two days later. Did you retrace all the places you've been since the last time you saw your wallet?
BTW I really liked your green essential tank so I casted on last week and I finished it yesterday.

  2. Yup. I had it at my desk, went home for lunch and then went to the store and it's in neither of those three places.

  3. Are you sure you didn't slip it in a different bag?

That's awful. I hope you get it all straightened out soon.

totally sucky. i wonder if some kind of staff person or even a labmate took it? i had a wallet stolen off my desk in what I thought was a totally safe office once, too. Luckily I had my license, my debit card, and one credit card in my back pocket at the time.
