Pattern: Children's Cotton Hat from Last Minute Knitted gifts. (Incidentally for some unknown reason Amazon has a deal where it bundles this book with Knitting from Nature for only $19!!! How could a girl resist??)
Yarn & Needles: Less than one ball of Debbie Bliss DK cotton in a lilac colour somewhat darker than the picture. Despite my recent acquisition of Photoshop I still couldn't get the colours true. Knit Picks DPNs 3.75mm.
This really did take only the proscribed 2 hours, I was impressed. Also I love the yarn! Knitting with cotton is usually something akin to torture but this yarn is soft and silky, not in the least bit rough, and neither does is absorb every last drop of moisture from my skin. I'm so glad I have 23 more balls of the stuff!
ETA: The Dad is in work. Today?! Man, that's dedication. iTunes just ate my iPod. Sadness.
Just adorable. With the weather we've been having, I'm stash diving for some cotton also.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! It's hard to get blue or purple to look right, I think a lot has to do with the camera too. My hairstylist is about to hav a baby, I'll have to try the hat - looks easy enough for me, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd just what were you planning to do with 24 balls of DK cotton? Hmmm?
ReplyDeleteWeeeeeellllll, about 15 balls is a me sized sweater... the other 10 balls? they looked lonely in the sale bin.
ReplyDeleteSue- the hat is pretty simple, mostly stockinette with an eyelet row and some decreases.
PS. I'm already knitting something else. I need a boyfriend. Or something.
argh, what happened to my comment? This is an adorable hat. They will melt over it. I feel bad for that dad's wife (having had two newborns myself) but this is America and of course we value WORK over babies. Anyway..I digress. Thanks for your comment on my blog about the ear tube surgery! She only just turned 2 years old last month, so she's not very big on swimming with her head under the water yet. Hopefully by that time the tubes will have fallen out and she'll be good to go. I'm glad you don't have any residual effects from the surgeries. And thanks again for commenting.
ReplyDeleteI made one!! I'm posting now! What a cute little pattern!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great little hat! 2 hours is pretty fast!
