Into the Wild

I was reading a whimsical news report a week or so ago that I've found difficult to forget. In the late 1990's a box of rubber bath toys was washed overboard during a storm. These little rubber ducks have been tracked as they made their way around the planet at the mercy of the tidal currents, giving scientist a unique glimpse at how our world really works.

That's how I like to think of my little hats. What stories will they be able to tell? Will the tiny babies they will keep warm know about the girl in New York knitting away on the 4th of July, dreaming about the potential good things that are happening? Will the child grow and flourish or will the story end sadly? I'll never know. But I'll gladly set these little things adrift into the current and let them find their own way home.
